Real Benefits of Green Tea | Healthmad
Green Tea originated in South Asia, mainly in China and India where it was used traditionally as well as in eastern medicine. Green tea, black tea and oolong tea are made from the leaves and stem of the plant named Camellia sinensis which is native to the South-East Asian region. Green tea is made by heating the fresh leaves quickly after picking it in high temperatures to prevent the oxidization process and thus prevent fermentation of the tea leaves. Thus Green tea undergoes least amount of fermentation and retains most of the “essence” or chemical compounds of the tea leaves without undergoing extensive breakdown or oxidation.

Intolerance towards Indian Widows
March 2007
In many conservative Indian families, widows are seen as a liability. Cast out of the family home, they live the rest of their lives in poverty and isolation.
"She becomes a zero and all her powers are lost", states Dr Giri, explaining how some women's status change when their husband dies. With no where else to go, thousands come to Vrindavan, city of widows. It was the childhood home of Hindu God, Krishna, who championed downtrodden women. "They come here in search of death", explains Dr Giri, in the hope they will have a better afterlife

A Question of Faith in India: Christianity vs. Hinduism in India
Jan 2004
Hindu fundamentalists are using tough political tactics and violence to curb the growing number of Christian conversions.
The Dalits are the poorest and most marginalised group in Indian society. Classed as 'untouchables' by the Hindu system, they live on the outskirts of society. But the arrival of Christian missionaries gave them new hope. By converting to Christianity, they hoped to escape a lifetime of persecution. "The Hindus treat us like animals," says one converted Christian. "Life is better as a Christian." But the leading Hindu party in Gujarat sees the conversion movement as little more than 'religious terrorism'. Missionaries now face huge restrictions and have to obtain permission from a magistrate to work. But with so few options available to Dalits, it seems unlikely that government legislation will slash the conversion rate.
